Home. Nothing more to really say than that. Guess I should put some more picture up, maybe a trip writeup. <shrug> Time will tell.

Ok, it's not exact, but it's close enough. I'm now in San Diego, the Gritty Waffle. (Sandy Eggo... heheh... uh... ok, nevermind, stupid joke). So I'm a little wierdo after this drive. I'd like to see anyone else not be a slight bit off after making it from South Carolina on Wednesday at 2pm, to San Diego at 6pm. I'm nutz. :)

Short, after the fact entry to note Las Cruces, New Mexico. Whee, long farking drive.
Ok, now in Vicksburg, Mississippi. (That's fun to type). Ended up about 30 miles farther along my run than I had intended for today, based on the original trip plans. Gotta make up some time for the Tuesday departure, and with the progressive speed limits in TX (finally), NM and AZ, I should be able to make wonderful time. :)

Ok, now in South Carolina. The long drive home has begun. No matter how I don't want this trip to end, I need to bring it to a close. It's time for me to come back to the real world, and not this limbo period. Sucky.

Still in Virginia. Nice thunderstorm last night, power went out and everything. Kinda nice actually having weather. Least when I don't have to drive in it.
I have now reached Virginia. The far end of the journey. The halfway point of the drive. Hard to believe how far I've come in the past couple weeks. I'm still not used to this damn time change. I'm still running more or less on Pacific time. Go fig. I correct quick on plane trips, but the time change just doesn't register quite so well when it's so gradual.

Now in Dayton, Ohio. This place in some respects reminds me of San Jose. Urban, but not too packed yet. Today, the last push east. Five hundred miles left on the outbound leg of this road trip as it sits planned at the moment.

Chicago. Slight detour from the original route. Very interesting city. Nice architecture, good food, surprisingly helpful and nice people. Only problem was downtown driving, avoiding cabbies, poorly signed streets and pushy pedestrians. Oh, and getting a little lost trying to find where the damn hotel was. That was a pain as well.

Alexandria, MN. Not a bad little town right off of the interstate. Quiet place. A little suburban mall zone with friendly folk.

Whew, made it to Montana. Loooong drive. Nice scenery en route however, which was nice. Only real weather event was driving through a cloud in Butte. Heh huh, I said butte.

Ok, now in Meridian, ID. Uneventful drive, aside from one of Washington's finest having a little chat with me about something their eye in the sky thought I was doing (80, oooh). He let me off with a warning however, so no real biggie there. Managed to pull into here about 7:40 local time (MDT). Tomorrow, the great pull to Eastern Montana, joy.

Last day in Washington, tomorrow Idaho. Weather has improved since I've been up here. My visit started with hail and rain, then drizzles, and now sun. Gotta love the Northwest.
Last entry until the 9th of May. I won't have dialup connectivity in Washington, unless I stop by a cybercafe, or someplace with open 'net access. I'll be sending up some pictures in a couple minutes of some of my family here.

Made it to Portland in one piece. Weather was nice up until about Grant's Pass, and then someone called in the clouds. It's now rather chill up here and cloudy. Weather forecast shows chance of showers over the weekend. I guess I left the California weather behind. Got here about 6pm, after leaving Chico late at 10am. My map program seems to be pretty accurate on the travel time estimates. It seems I can manage to drive the long hauls too. Granted, they are boring. One can only listen to the same CDs just so many times before they're no longer interesting listening.

Day 1 of driving complete. Light to no traffic, good weather. Now in Chico for the evening. Tomorrow, the first lonog day of driving. Blah.

I'm gone. Next report from on the road!

T-11 hours and all systems are still GO.

All systems, GO. Launch in T-16 hours and counting.

Just about 36 hours remaining, barring my wisdom teeth begging for attention. Will find out in the morning on that one. In the meantime, I've put up the photo gallery. Nothing in it yet, but there will be once I hit the road.

Just added a new overview map and estimated timesheet to the page. Dates are just driving days, not actual trip days. This would be a hellacious drive straight through. No thank you.

This is just another test!
